The NGK R7420-10 is part of NGK's dedicated Racing Competition range, developed for engines operating under substantially higher temperatures, cylinder pressures and loads than standard applications.

Iridium centre electrode
Platinum ground electrode
Solid terminal
Dedicated NGK Racing construction
 
NGK states that its Racing plugs are intended for racing, circuit use and highly tuned engines, and that heat range should be selected according to the engine specification and operating conditions.

NGK specifically warns that Racing plug heat range and firing-end design must be selected according to engine tuning level and operating conditions. A plug that is too cold can foul during low-temperature/low-load operation.
